challenging societal norms and fostering a more inclusive and empathetic
understanding of gender identity.
Through a diverse range of mediums,
including painting, objects, photography, performance art documentation,
and installation, this exhibition invites viewers to explore the
multifaceted narratives and perspectives of a black transmasculine folk
and his transition.
Each artwork serves as a powerful testament to the
strength, beauty, and complexity of the black and trans experience,
offering a platform for self-expression and reclaiming agency.
Jota Kayodê Ramos aka Mandrake Mermaid Xtravaganza, is a co-founder of
Workdatcxnt, a grassroots collective focused on transmasculine
individuals, particularly BIPOC.
