After the end of the GDR, the once valuable machines were just scrap. No longer used and thrown into the scrap heap. A fate often shared by machines and operators alike. The photo artist Jörg Schaller photographed the means of production and created an exhibition from the numerous pictures: "Machine Portraits".

Virtually in his neighborhood, the Treptower resident photographed machines and their parts in the former electrical apparatus factory, where the Allianz Tower now stands. The historical artifacts are remnants of a time when workers used these machines to manufacture radio recorders for the GDR and components for power plants around the world, among other things. Like monuments of a bygone era, the machine parts in his photos stand in their old place. They radiate the melancholy mood of the past. As a person and photographer, Jörg Schaller has accompanied the process of how a once great industrial plant becomes a ruin - and thus a symbol of transience.

The exhibition Maschinenportraits will open on March 12, at 4 p.m. in the Industriesalon Schöneweide in the presence of the artist. It can be seen during the regular opening hours of the Industriesalon, Wednesday to Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., until April 27.

On April 28, the first salon talk of the year will take place. In addition to the Industrial Salon, small and large players from Oberschöneweide are invited to present their plans for this year.

Two days later, on April 30, the Industriesalon will present its exciting project "Stadtlabor Wilhelminenhofstraße" for the first time.
