In his piece entitled ‘When the Little Harmonica Met the Jew’s Harp’, Thomas Sutter stages a minor squabble, the sort that often occurs within families. Entertaining, profound and, above all, offering a loving perspective on its heroes – all of whom are musical instruments. These are all featured in the concert, revealing their kinship: whether it’s the Chinese sheng, the harmonica, the jaw harp or the accordion, they are all harmonic instruments based on the principle of the vibrating reed.
Outstanding soloists – Wu Wei (sheng), Sören Birke (harmonica, jaw harp) and Mikael Yakut (accordion) – explain and demonstrate exactly what this means and how the instruments differ in this concert.
Before and after the concert, the Klingende Museum invites children to try out various instruments.
Free admission; booking recommended.
