Together with an artist, the day-trippers meet a scientist who has many ideas for the future of the village and its surroundings and who is enthusiastic about the planned merger of Greater Berlin. They also encounter two energetic villagers who not only have to clean vegetables, pour beer, milk cows, and bring in hay, but are also rehearsing for a performance. And as is sometimes the case when going for a walk, the group ends up not where they actually intended to go...
“Land” is a theatrical walk that explores the question of people’s ambivalent relationship with nature and the countryside. It deals with village life, the longings of city dwellers, agriculture, environmental destruction, nature conservation, and the question of why we actually go for walks.
Similar to the previous scenic discovery tours by Kirschendieb & Perlensucher, “Land” tells history and stories through a playful and humorous blend of site-specific theater and a walk, giving a voice to residents and passersby, poets, and philosophers. History mixes with fiction, and contemporary themes with local and world history.
