A poetic adventure about friendship, courage, and taking that first step out into the world by Friedrich Karl Waechter, with live music by Jonathan Boudevin

Kiebich and Dutz is a poetic adventure story about two unlikely friends on the threshold of the world.

Kiebich longs for the outside world, for wide-open spaces and new experiences. Dutz, on the other hand, loves the confines of home and the familiar. Amid pillows, shadows, and make-believe games, they invent their own heroic tales—until one of them finally finds the courage to actually set out.

In the strange world, Kiebich encounters a seductive force that lures him with sound and promises. And suddenly it becomes clear what friendship

means: not standing still, but setting out when the other is in danger.

With humor, music, and vivid imagery, the play explores fear and curiosity, illusory worlds and real experiences. A timeless story about how difficult and how necessary it is to take that first step—and that courage sometimes arises where you least expect it.

“Alone, you’re likely to get scared—but together, it’s a wonderful thing.”

A musical theater production for children ages 8 and up and for adults who haven’t lost their sense of wonder.
