Culture Salon

China has a huge territory and the extent of the country means that the different regions have a great diversity of mountainous landscapes, streams, lakes and climatic characteristics. Likewise, these conditions have produced a great wealth of history and culture.

Chengdu, also called "Rong", "Rongcheng" or "Jincheng", is not only the capital of Sichuan Province, but also an important central city in China's southwest region, a location of high-tech industry, a commercial logistics centre and a complex transport hub.

Chengdu is located in the western part of the Sichuan Basin. It has a subtropical humid monsoon climate. The terrain is flat and crossed by a branching river network.

The region is characterised by its abundance of produce and developed agriculture.

At the same time, Chengdu is one of the ten great ancient cities of China and among the first rank of historical-cultural cities in the whole country. The origin of the civilisation of the ancient Shu Empire is here, and scenic and historical attractions such as the Dujiangyan Water Conservation Project, the Wuhou Ancestral Temple and the thatched-roof hut of the poet Du Fu can be found here.

All this makes Chengdu one of the most beautiful tourist cities in China.

Sichuan Province is the natural habitat of China's national treasure, the giant panda, and the largest breeding station for giant pandas is also in Chengdu.

Sichuan cuisine is one of China's famous cuisines, known for its spiciness, seasoning and freshness, as well as its versatile scents and flavours.
Typical dishes include mapo doufu (tofu), huiguorou (twice-cooked pork), gongbaojiding (gongbao chicken), yuxiangrousi (fish-flavoured pork strips) and dandan noodles.

UNESCO has even awarded Chengdu the title of "Gourmet Capital of the World".

A rich cultural heritage, a pleasant lifestyle, an impressive food culture and a beautiful landscape form the background for the cosy and livable city of Chengdu.

The current cultural salon combines history and culture, technological innovations, tourist landscape sceneries and tasty food to show the audience the unique charm of this ancient, thousand-year-old city.
