Works from the Nationalgalerie Collection
From April 12 2024, Hamburger Bahnhof will present its extensive collection of works by the artist Joseph Beuys. Thanks to the generous donation of the family of collector Erich Marx, who died in 2020, key works such as Tram Stop. A monument to the future and DAS KAPITAL RAUM, 1970–1977 will be on view.
This new exploration, taking place for the first time in the Kleihueshalle, looks closely at Beuys' complex oeuvre and controversial reception.
In a multi-layered dialogue with New York-based artist Naama Tsabar, the presentation probes the ways in which Beuys’s work questioned – and also changed – the nature, materiality, language and perception of the boundaries and tasks of art.
Curator
The exhibition will be curated by Catherine Nichols, curator and researcher at Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart.
- A permanent exhibition of the Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin
