- Peter van Huffel – saxophones
- Roland Fidezius – bass
- Simon Carmatta – drums
With Peter Van Huffel (saxophones), Roland Fidezius (bass), and Simon Carmatta (drums), the band combines the burning fire of Berlin’s underground scene with the creative dynamism of the Ruhr region.
Born out of a spontaneous meeting at the Rabbit Hole Theater (Essen) in January 2024, Helicopter is an explosive fusion of melody, noise, groove, and fearless improvisation.
While Peter and Roland—longtime collaborators in the thrash-jazz trio Gorilla Mask—push their sound into uncharted sonic territory, Simon, a driving force in North Rhine-Westphalia’s avant-garde scene, brings his unmistakable rhythmic intensity to the mix.
The result: an unpredictable journey—sometimes turbulent, always electrifying.
Peter Ehwald & Scubert Four- Peter Ehwald – reeds
- Thomas Dąbrowski – trumpet
- Matthias Pichler – bass
- Ivars Arutyunyan – drums
Berlin-based saxophonist Peter Ehwald has composed a series of musical calls to action for his new quartet, “Scubert Four.”
These independent, composed musical cells call for action—for improvisation, interpretation, and communication.
The musicians who answer Ehwald’s call to action are among the most interesting on the European scene. Together with his longtime partner from Malmö, trumpeter Tomasz Dąbrowski, Ehwald forms the frontline—the two musicians harmonize superbly and, as soloists, are fascinating opposites.
This energetic interplay is supported by a powerful rhythm section: bassist Matthias Pichler and drummer Ivars Arutyunyan, both established figures on the Berlin scene, lend the music dynamism, depth, and an unstoppable drive forward.
Scubert Four is an uncompromising call to hit the club—which this time is located at the Kaisersteg!
