David Millán: drums

Bandleader David Millán is a Colombian-Ecuadorian drummer, performer, producer and composer who lives in Berlin and completed his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the Berlin University of the Arts.

During his Bachelor’s degree in Ecuador, he gained experience as a musician across many Latin American genres, including jazz, salsa, timba, currulao, cumbia, samba, Andean music, merengue, Latin jazz, hip-hop and pop.

He has performed these genres on numerous stages, including at the Petronio Álvarez Festival in Cali (Colombia) and the Ecuador Jazz Festival. Millán has shared the stage with various renowned international artists, including Los Van Van from Cuba, Totó la Momposina, Herencia de Timbiqui and others.

Since 2020, he has been devoting himself intensively to the music production of some of his projects and compositions, starting with the album for his pop project ‘Project Freedom’, which was recorded in the midst of the pandemic in 2020. In 2021, he released the album “Familia Freunde and Friends”, followed in 2023 by the album “Amor” – both featuring his own compositions, with the latter venturing into genres such as Afro-pop, Latin pop, calypso, hi-life Afrobeat, pop-rock and ballads.

Alongside his musical work, David Millán has been teaching drums and rhythm for 10 years. In 2021, he founded his own online school (David Millán Drums School), where he offers lessons using a variety of teaching methods and modern learning tools.
