The exhibition Mapping the Concrete presents a body of work from 2021 to 2025 in which Ebel explores the interplay between artistic practice and philosophical thought.

Here, "concreteness" does not appear as a fixed materiality, but rather as a form of relationship: an open state in which visual, conceptual, and spatial elements exist side by side on an equal footing. The numerous references do not explain anything, but instead leave traces—subtly but profoundly shifting the visitors' perception.

At the heart of the exhibition is an A2 plan, serving as a methodological map. Instead of a conventional overview, it opens up a space for thought in which the concrete itself is mapped: as a network of relationships, overlaps, and possible paths through the exhibition. The plan functions simultaneously as a guide and a visual hypothesis—a physical and conceptual map of a space where art and thought meet on equal footing.

For several years, the Berlin-based Swiss-German artist Ivan Liovik Ebel has worked closely with philosopher Anne-Françoise Schmid, co-founder of the international initiative of so-called "non-philosophy." In 2021, they jointly published the book *Topographie discrète*—an experimental "scenario for a text without dimensions" that brings together art and philosophy beyond the boundaries of traditional disciplines.

Ivan Liovik Ebel (born 1983 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland) lives and works in Berlin. He holds a Master's degree in Contemporary Arts Practice from the Bern University of the Arts. His work has been presented in numerous exhibitions, including: Kunsthaus Langenthal (CH), Kunsthalle Bern (CH), Kunstmuseum Bern (CH), CACN Centre d’Art Contemporain de Nîmes (F), Neue Galerie, London (GB) and Bern (CH), Marks Blond Project, Bern (CH), ZQM Projektraum, Berlin (DE), Galerie Widmer Theodoridis, Zürich (CH), Annka Kultys Gallery, London (GB), Galerie Valérie Delaunay, Paris (F), Galerie 3000, Bern (CH), Espace Art & Essai, Rennes (F), Galerie du Griffon, Neuchatel (CH), Galerie Gilla Lörcher I Contemporary Art, Berlin (DE)
