FRESH A.I.R. #10
Under the title ‘I AM FLUX: The Freedom of Being and the Possibilities of Becoming,’ the artist-in-residence programme Fresh A.I.R. and the Martha Cooper Scholarship of the Berliner Leben Foundation are presenting the final exhibition.
Since January 2025, the participating scholarship holders of the tenth Fresh A.I.R. cohort have been exploring the transformative nature of identity and existence in the field of tension between art and technology. With their works, they question what it means to live in a world of constant change, to change and develop oneself.
During the eleven-month scholarship, new works were created by twelve international artists: Lena Becerra (ITA/ARG), Lena Biresch (DEU), Mariana Carranza (URY/DEU), Jivan van der Ende (NLD), Julla Kroner (DEU), Linda Marwan (DEU), Agata Mendziuk (POL), Dylan Mitro (CAN), Hugo Pétigny (FRA), Monika Popiel & Paweł Świerczek (POL) and Mátyás Tóth (HUN).
The works are grouped around three thematic fields:
HORIZONS OF BEING – Identity as a dynamic, fluid process. The artistic contributions question normative gender roles and examine embodiment and performative self-concepts beyond fixed attributions.
WHISPERS OF EXISTENCE – The metaphysical dimension of being: questions of visibility and invisibility, presence and absence, poetic and transcendent were explored.
BEYOND LIMITS – Transcending classic boundaries: human-technology interfaces, extensions of the body, dialogues between nature and machine, and historical reconfigurations are explored artistically.
The exhibition reflects the wide range of contemporary forms of expression: installations, sculptures, video works, photography, digital media, XR technologies and immersive formats. These are complemented by painting, hybrid media, performance, sound art and interactive spatial concepts.
The exhibition is only one part of the diverse cosmos of our scholarship holders. The Open House on 8 November 2025 offers a special opportunity to learn more about their artistic approaches. Here, visitors will gain exclusive insights into the projects and working methods.
