The hare and the hedgehog family are neighbours and don’t always make life easy for one another. The hare is bothered by the noise the hedgehog children make; what’s more, he’s a show-off and makes fun of Papa Hedgehog’s short legs. Until, one lovely Sunday morning, they have a row and make a bet.

A storyteller ‘lets us in on a secret’ about the story of the hare and the hedgehog. This story is actually a tall tale, but it’s true all the same, because my grandmother, from whom I heard it, always used to say: ‘It must be true, otherwise you couldn’t tell it!’
