The history of the Berlin Wall in rarely seen images: 65 years after its construction, film footage from the collections of the Berlin State Archives documents the period from 1961 until the fall of the Wall in 1989. Many of these historical recordings form part of the UNESCO Memory of the World Register.

Historian and Deputy Berlin Commissioner for Coming to Terms with the Past Jens Schöne, Director of the Berlin State Archives Sven Kriese and BAB Education Officer Anna Kokenge will comment on the film clips and explain their historical context.

A subsequent panel discussion will explore the film footage in greater depth and examine its significance for the remembrance of the division of Germany.

Carmen Schwietzer, Deputy Director of the Berlin State Archives, will host the evening.
