Green Teams Network Meeting

It is precisely these people and their projects that are the focus of the Green Teams Network Meeting on October 29 and 30, 2026, in Berlin. There, dedicated employees from companies and organizations across Germany will come together to share experiences and demonstrate how sustainability can be put into practice in everyday work life. In addition to practical insights, workshops, and various networking opportunities, a highlight will be the presentation of the 2026 Greeny Awards. Online registration is now open.

The five winning projects of the 2025 Greeny Award demonstrate that there are many different approaches to sustainability in business: The Green Team at CIMA Beratung und Management GmbH developed a public welfare accounting system for the company. Employees at Die Deutsche Industrie Video System GmbH (DIVIS) found a way to reuse discarded server enclosures. A natural garden on the Berlin corporate campus of the elevator company Schindler Deutschland AG & Co. KG creates habitats for insects while also serving as a public learning space. The Green Team at the University Hospital Düsseldorf has integrated climate change into medical training through the elective course “Sustainability in Medicine.” First place in 2025 went to the University of Cologne’s “Sustainability Days.” Submissions for this year’s Greeny Award are now being accepted online.

“The number of people who want to take action in the face of heat waves and wildfires isn’t decreasing—it’s increasing,” says Tim Riedel, co-organizer of the Green Team Network. “Green Teams in the workplace give these people an opportunity to make a real difference. The impact you can have at work is much greater than, for example, changing your own consumption habits. And it channels that energy toward something positive—something good that can emerge from a shared project. It is precisely these ideas and experiences that we want to highlight through the Green Teams Network and use to encourage action.”

The Green Teams Network meeting is open to existing Green Teams in companies and organizations, as well as to employees who are primarily seeking inspiration and opportunities for exchange. Participation is possible on just one of the two days and is free of charge. The focus is not only on professional insights but, above all, on answering the question of how courage and commitment in the workplace can lead to real change. The first workshops, sessions, and speakers have been confirmed:

Katharina Reuter, Executive Director of the German Federal Association for Sustainable Economy, works daily with companies that are jointly advancing a sustainable economy. The same goes for Esin Rager: The former vice president of FC St. Pauli has taken bold steps and forged strong partnerships to take sustainability at the club to the next level and firmly anchor it there.

The workshops will also focus specifically on scope for action: How can Green Teams make companies and organizations more resilient and sustainable in times of climate crisis and pressure to transform? What new opportunities arise when Green Teams and labor unions work together? And how can committed employees remain effective even in the face of resistance? The full program is available online.

About the Green Teams Network

The Green Teams Network supports Green Teams and employees in advancing sustainability within their companies. To this end, the network offers free networking opportunities, training, initial consultations, informational events, and much more.

A central hub for exchange is the free community platform. There, committed individuals can network across company and industry boundaries, share experiences, discuss questions, and learn from one another.

The Green Teams Network is a project of Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, planetgroups, and NELA (Next Economy Lab). It is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy under the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) program, based on a resolution of the German Bundestag.
