"My friend Siu Ming and I have been writing to each other for three years whilst he is imprisoned as a political prisoner in Hong Kong. As we know the letters are being censored, our writing style has changed – we write in code, poetically, conveying our meaning between the lines. And although I write my letters from a place where freedom of expression prevails, I come up against the invisible boundaries of my own thoughts.”

GPO Box No. 211
‘GPO Box No. 211’ is a visual reflection on intellectual freedom, isolation and communication. It is an attempt to maintain a friendship across barriers and great distances – even when the connection feels fragile. The calm, dreamlike production, in which the stationery takes centre stage, was awarded the ZKB Recognition Prize at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel in 2024.
On 3 November at 6.30 pm, an introduction to ‘GPO Box No. 211’ in easy-to-read language will be presented by Melanie Seifert.
On 4 November at 11.00, a workshop on the production will take place with the Théâtre du Poulet.
