Bettina von Arnim: "No one plays her quite like Johanna Wech," according to the Bild newspaper.

Torn between Goethe and Beethoven, the heroes of the century before last, Johanna Wech portrays a tender, vulnerable Bettina in the first act, who transforms into a daring Amazon in the struggle for freedom.

Persecuted and humiliated by the king’s ministers, she seeks to mold the self-absorbed Frederick William IV into a liberal king of the people, until the iron dungeon door slams shut.

Beside her, the gruff stage villain Michael Kinkel plays his satirical game and conjures up a past that seeks to clarify today’s issues:

Only those who know history can learn from its mistakes!

Starring: Johanna Wech as Bettina von Armin, Michael Kinkel as Johann the valet
