Symphony Concert: Stasevska & Eberle

A primal musical force, both familiar and foreign: In *Archora*, Anna Thorvaldsdottir combines the concepts of *archē* (“origin”) and *chōra* (“space”) into a soundscape that hovers between stillness and change. The mystical atmosphere evokes the vastness and pristine nature of Icelandic landscapes.

Jean Sibelius’s Violin Concerto, too, embodies the spirit of grand natural imagery. Following its less-than-successful premiere in 1904, the composer fundamentally revised the work: he stripped it of its exuberant brilliance and imbued it with clarity and structure. The final version thrives on soaring sounds and deeply felt, contemplative melodies.
