Diana Achtzig & Manfred Rother

The exhibition FISCHWELTEN shows sculptures, paintings, graphics and objects by Diana Achtzig and Manfred Rother.

The new exhibition "Fish Worlds" in the Pyramide exhibition center invites visitors to experience the fascinating connection between art and mythology.

Diana Achtzig and Manfred Rother, two renowned artists from the district, present their unique works in this double exhibition, which impressively explore the mysterious depths of the underwater world and its symbolic meaning.

Diana Achtzig, an artist with a distinctive style, presents her series of fish depictions created over decades. These works, created between 1977 and 2025, are complemented by Manfred Rother's ink drawings and sculptures, which offer a spiritually timeless perspective on the themes of the underwater world.

The works of the two artists draw on the rich mythological traditions of antiquity. In her colorful and minimalist depictions, Diana Achtzig weaves the stories of Tiamat, the primordial goddess of the sea, and Dagon, the fish god, with modern aesthetic influences.

Manfred Rother complements this approach with his monotypes and sculptures, which take up the clear symbolism of Japanese calligraphy and emphasize the fragile uniqueness of the underwater world. The works of the two artists enter into an intensive dialogue and illustrate the timeless fascination and complexity of the fish motif.

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the exhibition also raises awareness of the pressing problems of our time. Achtzig and Rother address the growing pollution of the oceans in a compelling way. Their works, often made from recycled materials, illustrate the fragility of this ecosystem and encourage people to think about their responsibility. Plastic waste, oil pollution and overfishing are made tangible through their art, and visitors are encouraged to actively contribute to preserving the oceans.
