Junior Company Bonn – They Might Be Giants Co-production of the CocoonDance Company and Theater im Ballsaal Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia

"Faster, higher, further" – this is how many young people experience today's world and fear they won't be able to keep up with the rapid pace and the associated demands. In Fatigateau, their tenth piece, developed entirely independently for the first time, the Bonn Junior Company explores the complex facets of exhaustion.

The starting point is the feeling of rushing through everyday life like a robot, constantly having to function, barely finding time for themselves or others – and yet still being subjected to the high expectations of a dynamic, positive generation.

On stage, the dancers transform this fatigue into artistic expression, finding support in community and losing themselves in the moment. Fatigateau thus becomes an exploration of a seeming contradiction: solitary fatigue and the sweet lightness (gâteaux) that arises from shared experiences – like a cake shared together.

Since its founding in 2013, the Bonn Junior Company has grown into a creative "space of possibilities" for dancers between the ages of 8 and 22. Project by project, their skills, expressiveness, and self-confidence have deepened.

At the heart of the ongoing collaboration with the professional CocoonDance Company is artistic freedom—a space in which young people not only learn dance, but also embrace it as a way of life.
