The Kupferstichkabinett invites you to the exhibition opening. Between 1580 and 1660, the new, powerful visual language of the Flemish Baroque emerged, characterised by passionate emotions and intense colours.

At the heart of the exhibition are outstanding drawings by the three major figures: Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob Jordaens and Anton van Dyck. These are complemented by works by pioneers, collaborators and contemporaries, revealing a dense network of professional relationships.
Almost all the drawings on display are part of a wider body of work: whether as quick sketches of ideas, detailed compositional designs or precise individual studies – they served as preparations for paintings, engravings or tapestries and still today provide a vivid insight into the creative process.
The speakers at the opening are:
- Bart Brosius, General Delegate of Flanders in Germany
- Dagmar Korbacher, Director of the Kupferstichkabinett; Christien Melzer, curator of the exhibition
The supporting programme will be provided by the Bibliotheca Musica choir, conducted by Sergi Gili Solé.
The opening will take place in the central entrance hall of the Kulturforum.
