New Year's Concert 2026: 'Waltz Prelude to the Year of the Accordion'.

To kick off 2026, which has been declared the ‘Year of the Accordion’ by the state music councils, the Euphonia Accordion Orchestra will perform a lively programme.

With the motto 'From Strauss to Jacobi, through the ages with the accordion', the ensemble will combine waltz bliss, operetta sounds, and contemporary music to provide a diverse start to the new year.

Popular works by Johann Strauss will take centre stage, including the 'Fledermaus Overture' and 'The Blue Danube', alongside arias and duets from operettas such as 'The Merry Widow' and 'The White Horse Inn', performed by Antonia Schuchardt (soprano) and Felix Che Groll (tenor).

Alongside these classics, the orchestra, conducted by Philipp Höning, will also perform modern pieces such as Gerhard Mohr's award-winning Nordic Sonata and Wolfgang Jacobi's Impromptu, which highlights the expressive capabilities of the accordion as a concert instrument.
