Painting and Sculpture from the Weißensee Academy of Art in Berlin

With “escalators to: big bang,” the central graduation exhibition of the Painting and Sculpture departments at the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin moves into the Alte Radsetzerei on the RAW grounds for two weeks. Forty-three master’s students and diploma candidates present drawings, photography, video, sculpture, textile works, and installations.

The exhibition title refers to the transition from the sheltered university environment into the complexity and unpredictability of the art world—and invites visitors to discover the artistic perspectives of a new generation at a historically unique location.

The Alte Radsetzerei on the RAW grounds in Berlin-Friedrichshain is one of the capital’s most impressive historic industrial halls. The former factory hall captivates with its striking steel structure and raw architecture.

It is rarely opened to the public and is exclusively curated and presented by Ricarda Farnbacher as a venue for day events, long-term exhibition concepts, and contemporary art and culture.
