Enno Poppe - “Radio for nine synthesizers”
Enno Poppe approaches electroacoustic music with "sympathetic skepticism." Although he has been working with programming and electronic techniques since his studies – also as a conductor – none of his compositions is purely electronic.
In "Rundfunk für neun Synthesizer" (Radio for Nine Synthesizers), he uses historical sounds, but no historical instruments: Nine computers and keyboards reproduce sounds from the 1960s and 70s – FM synthesis, Minimoog, Piganino. The computer-generated reconstructions sound deliberately different, the sound is dissected and reassembled.
The musicians are not keyboard virtuosos, but specialists in electronic sounds. "Rundfunk" celebrates music-making itself and represents a "postdigital" music that re-embodies electronics.
