As the winner of two Latin Grammy Awards and a 16-time Brazilian Music Award winner, Elba Ramalho has been one of Brazil’s most important singers for 40 years – with remarkable consistency. She was a silver bird, a flower, a fruit and even an entire landscape. She set the rhythms alight, led the ciranda dance, wove the musical tapestry – and always left everything exactly as her fans love it.

Elba does not sing merely for the sake of singing; she sings to communicate: to tell stories, to conjure up places, to help people understand one another, and to paint a portrait of some of Brazil’s most beautiful soundscapes.
As an authentic representative of the rhythms of north-eastern Brazil, Elba found her way to singing through Chico Buarque. She also had the privilege of sharing her artistic journey with greats such as Luiz Gonzaga, Jackson do Pandeiro and Dominguinhos.
