The cello captivates with its warm, expressive sound, which is particularly close to the human voice. When two cellos play together, an extraordinary richness unfolds. At times, their voices merge into a harmonious whole; at others, they engage in a lively dialogue, alternating between lyrical intimacy and virtuosic exuberance.
The varied programme spans a wide musical spectrum from the Baroque era to the 20th century. Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven and Jean-Baptiste Barrière feature on the programme, alongside compositions by Camille Saint-Saëns, David Popper, Edward Elgar, Scott Joplin, Friedrich Zehm and Justus Johann Friedrich Dotzauer. The programme brings together Baroque elegance, Classical clarity, Romantic sonority and the rousing rhythms of ragtime.
