A guest performance by Freie Bühne Basel
She speaks in images. He speaks plainly. And yet they understand one another – sometimes. *Daydreamer* tells the tragicomic story of the encounter between two people who, on the face of it, have nothing in common: Rose, who takes refuge in poetic fantasies to escape reality, and Cliff, a stranded lorry driver whose blunt honesty sees him barging through doors before he’s even knocked.

In Rose’s far-too-small flat, longing, biting humour and an unresolved past collide: absurd verbal sparring, awkward intimacy and the desperate attempt not to shatter against one’s own shadow once again. Behind Rose’s fragments of the past lie chasms that Cliff only gradually comes to recognise, and whose pitfalls he tries to avoid – whilst failing spectacularly in the process.
A fragile, unexpected connection that really shouldn’t work, but perhaps does all the same.
