Guided tour of the exhibition THE ROMANISCHES CAFÉ IN BERLIN IN THE 1920S
The Romanisches Café was the most famous coffee house in Berlin in the 1920s. The pop-up exhibition in the Europa Centre is dedicated to this special place, its visitors and the role that the café played for Berlin in the 1920s. During the curator's tour, the curators present their favourite objects and the aspects of the exhibition that particularly moved them.
Where the Europa Centre stands today, artists and intellectuals used to meet in Berlin during the Weimar Republic. Until their expulsion by the National Socialists, the Romanesque Café was a place where art projects were debated, networks were established and ideas were exchanged. It attracted creative people from all over Europe to the up-and-coming new city centre around the Gedächtniskirche, the New West.
The exhibition is a tribute to the time of the Weimar Republic and the people who frequented it. With many pictures, films and original exhibits, visitors can immerse themselves in the 1920s.
The curator-guided tours provide an in-depth insight into the exhibition.
