Libby & Cal
A millennial autoharp player meets a baby boomer guitarist—and musical magic ensues. The Canadian acoustic duo Libby & Cal tackle themes rarely addressed in songs. Their lyrics are both cheeky and moving, offering pleasant surprises. The pair has already performed at various events in Canada as well as at the California Autoharp Gathering and has released three albums to date. Libby bought an autoharp in 2014 after years of lugging her electric piano to gigs. She currently teaches music and runs a women-focused open-mic event in Ottawa called “Sad Girl Café.” Cal (aka Doug Hendry) immigrated to Canada in 1991 and played his 12-string guitar in bands such as Odd One Out, Fiddlehead Soup, and Tripoly.
Vaz Oliver
Vaz Oliver makes music that silences a room. The Madrid-born, Berlin-based singer-songwriter and composer possesses a voice of rare purity—with the fragility of a Nick Drake and the unsettling clarity of a Thom Yorke. His concerts are cinematic and disarming in their intimacy. Over the course of his fifteen-year career, he has performed over 400 concerts throughout Europe, North America, and China. His live accompaniment to Walter Ruttmann’s 1927 silent film *Berlin, Symphony of a Metropolis* has been performed in theaters and at film festivals since 2021.
