Between 1942 and 1944, more than 30,000 people were deported from Moabit freight station to ghettos and extermination camps. The National Socialists drove the Jews from the collection camps through the streets of Moabit to the station in full view of everyone.
The National Socialists used the station both because of its central location in the rail network and its proximity to the collection camps.
The guided tour with regional historian Andreas Szagun focuses on the role of the Reichsbahn in the deportation network and the creation of the memorial site.
