Don Cossacks

The core of the repertoire consists of sacred chants, as well as Cossack, Russian, and Ukrainian folk songs.

From the softest pianissimo to the loudest forte, the artists convey not only their choral pieces but also their emotions with precision.

For 40 years, Petja Houdjakov has led the choir and traveled the world with the musicians. During the Christmas season, the Don Cossacks’ program is enriched with festive songs. Thus, alongside songs such as “Evening Bell,” “Volga-Volga,” and “Red Saffron,” traditional Christmas melodies are also performed. With a little luck, the audience may even be treated to an opera aria or two in between.

The singers are accompanied instrumentally by the balalaika, a traditional Russian plucked string instrument, and the “Aleksandra” harmonica.
