"Chiquinha" brings the revolutionary story of Brazil's first professional female musician to Europe. In a multidisciplinary music theater, the international collective led by clarinetist Noam Carmon presents the life and work of composer, pianist, conductor and activist Chiquinha Gonzaga, who moves between her time and ours.

A collage of cross-genre arrangements of Chiquinha's music, lyrics, and improvisational transitions - staged by an ensemble of musicians who bring her musical symbiosis of African rhythm with European salon culture into today through transformations with jazz, klezmer, Latin, and more, visibly and audibly theatrically interrogating Gonzaga's bold journey through life in patriarchal colonial Brazilian society at the turn of the century.
