A monthly cello group practice session

Invitation to our monthly cello group workshop, designed to improve your tone production, intonation, position shifts, dexterity, and speed—a true “full-body workout” for cellists who want to make serious progress.

Natasha Jaffe will guide you step by step through the fundamental technical exercises that most cellists skip, rush through, or avoid when practicing on their own. This approach to working on scales, arpeggios, and double stops will make it easier for you to master these elements as you encounter them in your pieces—no matter what musical style interests you.

You’ll work on:

  • Scales and exercises for stable intonation and good left-hand organization
  • Easier and more precise shifting between neck positions
  • Bow and tone exercises for a clear, resonant sound
  • Etudes to help you master your technique
  • Practical warm-up exercises you can use at home

Each monthly session is a little different, but some of the fundamentals are repeated so that you can truly master them if you attend regularly and practice between sessions—allowing you to move on to more challenging variations.

The goal of Cello-Gym is to help you go through the exercises perfectly and with good technique at least once a month, find solutions to your challenges—and re-inspire you to incorporate this type of practice into your own routine.

Designed for intermediate to advanced cellists—a basic understanding of position changes (for example, to 2nd or 4th position) is required.
