Casual Concert
Ludwig van Beethoven, often perceived as serious and stern, certainly had a lively, humorous side—and his Seventh Symphony is perhaps the most striking example of this. Instead of gravity and pathos, the focus here is on energy, movement, and pure joy of life. Richard Wagner described the work as the “apotheosis of dance,” while Romain Rolland spoke of an “orgy of rhythm.”
At the second Casual Concert of the season, Anja Bihlmaier takes the musical helm and, as host, guides the audience through Beethoven’s rousing masterpiece.
Together with the DSO, she will bring to life the symphony’s rhythmic power and exuberant energy. Afterward, the celebration will continue in the Philharmonie’s foyer: with a live act and a DJ, the concert evening will transform into an exuberant musical experience.
