Renata Flores Junge Choreograf*innen, Bad Honnef tanzt e. V., North Rhine-Westphalia
In her solo, 18-year-old Renata Flores reflects on themes such as identity, self-perception, and cultural belonging – inspired by her own life story. Having come to Germany from Mexico as a child, she uses movement, language, and symbols to tell the story of life between two cultures. Items of clothing become symbols for roles she has tried on and discarded.
A tower of mirrors serves as a projection screen for doubts, but also for the strength to remain true to oneself. Her native language and the fairytale motif of Little Red Riding Hood – a symbol of childhood and memory – form the emotional core. The result is a powerful dance about growing up and the search for belonging without giving up on one's own self.
The Young Choreographers are an independent youth dance company from Bad Honnef, with a diverse range of ages, abilities, and cultures. Under the umbrella of the Bad Honnef Tanzt association, participants are given the space and tools to develop their own pieces from the initial idea to stage readiness – free from fixed techniques or stylistic constraints.
Accompanied by professional artists from various disciplines, they work independently on concepts, engage in interdisciplinary exchange, and explore new forms. The results are regularly presented publicly, including at the company's annual dance festival. In 2024, a work from the company was invited to the Youth Dance Meeting for the first time.
