Is this turning of the times giving you a headache, too? Do you also find yourself wondering what’s in the air and what colors one should wear during this transitional period? After red, green, and yellow, is it now beige, or perhaps even…?
At the legendary “Café Europa,” there’s been a change in ownership. Now the staunch nationalist Bernd runs the place and is transforming the once cosmopolitan establishment into the restaurant “Deutsches Haus.”
Left behind are a male waiter, a female waitress, and a man at the piano, who rebel against the new manager with subversive wit and critical remarks. Can they reclaim their “Café Europa”?
With lyrics and music
By Kurt Tucholsky, Bertolt Brecht, Erika Mann, Friedrich Hollaender, Mascha Kaléko, Hanns Eisler, and others.
