Let the book take center stage!
The new Book Salon series at the Art Library revolves entirely around books. Maren Wienigk, Architecture Collection, and Michael Lailach, Book Art Collection, discuss new and old books with their guests.
Seventh guest: Artist Barbara Steppe creates books in ceramic and porcelain. Through this material, the technique of painting, and the necessary firing of the book object, the inherent design rigor of the book is transformed, giving it a special luster.
They will talk with Barbara Steppe about her selection of books, details of the titles, her stay in Jingdezhen, the Chinese center of porcelain, and the interplay between ceramics and art.
Book Salon #7 is presented in collaboration with art historian Claudia Kanowski, curator of ceramics at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin.
Admission is free – drinks will be available.
