KunstNetzWerk Neukladow

Spending summer days along the Havel has long been a tradition for artists of all kinds. More than a hundred years ago, numerous prominent figures from Berlin’s cultural scene spent their summer months in Neukladow.

In recent years, the Guthmann Academy, in cooperation with the Spandau Office of Culture, has continued this tradition by repeatedly inviting artists to work in the historically rich and scenically magnificent Gutspark.

"Between Water and Light" was the theme of the fourth Neukladow Plein Air in 2024. It not only referenced the historic plein air painting once practiced on site but also brought Neukladow’s art history into the present through contemporary perspectives. The participants explored a wide range of creative possibilities in painting, printmaking, drawing, and conceptual art — all inspired by the unique atmosphere of the Gutspark. The works were not limited to the open air; some were even created underwater and are now part of the KunstNetzWerk Neukladow exhibition at the Galerie Historischer Keller.

Elke Burkert, Paula Carralero Bierzynska, Birgit Cauer, Donna Fei, Andrea Imwiehe, Vasyl Koval, Joeri Léfevre, Julia Pietschmann, and Oliver Thie.
