Fort Hahneberg is located on the western edge of Berlin, on Heerstraße, in the Staaken district. The urban area here extends another 1.5 kilometers to the west. Due to an exchange of territory between the Soviet and British sectors, this course was changed in the spring of 1951.

The western part of Staaken and also Fort Hahneberg were assigned to the territory of Berlin (East), later to the district of Nauen in the Potsdam district. Thus Fort Hahneberg was located west of the Berlin Wall, outside of Berlin.

Set out together, from the remains of the former border crossing point through the "death strip" to the landscape conservation area, the new Hahneberg.
