Manuel Larbig, Waldsamkeit
BERLIN'S GREEN TREASURES

Since he was a student, the biologist and survivalist Manuel Larbig from Waldsamkeit has wanted to bring people closer to the rich diversity of Berlin’s wild plant species. After noticing how dry and boring standard botany courses can be, Manuel realized, "There's another way!" Since 2017, Manuel and his team have been offering wild herb hikes, cooking courses and team events in the Berlin area and showing Berliners the undreamt-of variety of plants their city has to offer. Manuel will teach us all kinds of interesting things about local vegetation – many wild herbs have an unmistakable and original taste that can’t be bought in the supermarket. *presentation in German.

CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

Discovering hidden islands. Glimpsing wildlife in its natural habitat. Exploring foreign cities. Relaxing on calm, white sand beaches. This sounds like a round-the-world trip, the journey of a lifetime – but in fact, this is all waiting for you a short trip out of Berlin. Doro from Himbeer Verlag will take us on a beautiful houseboat tour from Brandenburg Plaue, with the family in tow, showing us all the waters of Brandenburg have to offer. She will also share a few travel tips straight from the book, “Berlin mit Kind.” *presentation in German.

Sina Schwarz & Theresa Wißmann, Milch und Moos
HIKING AND GOOD FOOD

Culinary Brandenburg on foot. The best excursion tips for a short holiday right on your doorstep.
Sina and Theresa have a shared love of landscapes and food. Since 2016, they have been wandering the Berlin countryside on foot in search of culinary treasures. They record their discoveries on their blog, and in the recently published book "Milch & Moos – Vom Wandern und guten Essen." At Berlin Travel Night #06, they show you why Brandenburg is such a great place to hike, where you can get the best provisions along the way, and why it's worth heading out and exploring all year round. In addition, they'll present their favorite summertime culinary excursions – from the lake hiking and touring through ancient beech forests with a gin tasting along the way, to conquering a fantastic island with the help of a frying pan. *presentation in German.
