Matinee by and starring Maria Hartmann – special guest: Charles Brauer

Without their unerring instinct for outstanding talent, the literary careers of writers such as Else Lasker-Schüler, Christian Morgenstern, Robert Walser and Ernst Toller would have taken a different course.

Both Paul and Bruno Cassirer championed all these writers before they became household names. In the visual arts, they were staunch advocates of Impressionism and its dissemination, gathering painters such as Max Liebermann, Max Slevogt and Lovis Corinth around them.

The fact that the great actress Tilla Durieux – who was Paul Cassirer’s wife for many years – graced the stage of the Renaissance Theatre creates an additional link between the Cassirer name and this wonderful theatre.
