A new festival, the BERLINER FESTIVAL ALTER MUSIK, will make its debut from November 26 to 29, 2026. Under the theme “The Fascination of the Renaissance,” concerts at venues such as Villa Elisabeth, St. Elisabeth, St. Matthäus, the Sophienkirche, and the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin invite audiences to rediscover the music of the Renaissance.

Renowned Berlin-based and international ensembles will present a diverse program ranging from sacred vocal music to Italian madrigals and frottolas, as well as dance music and Wandelkonzerte. Highlights include concerts featuring Cappella Pratensis, Profeti della Quinta, the Sollazzo Ensemble, The Playfords, Art d’Echo, and the B’Rock Orchestra & Vocal Consort.

Families will also find something to enjoy: a musical shadow theater featuring 16th-century music invites young and old alike on a special journey through time.

The festival concludes with the concert “Da Pacem – Gib Frieden, which combines music by Heinrich Schütz with electronic elements, spanning the arc from the Renaissance to the present day.

The festival views the Renaissance not merely as a historical era, but as a time of new beginnings, curiosity, and exchange—values that are reflected in the diverse program and the extraordinary concert formats.
