“Being Orlando,” inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel *Orlando*, is a solo performance about social constructs and self-definition, about identity, power, and vulnerability—and about the question of the “true self.”

“And what do I really miss the most? Just being able to pee standing up somewhere.”

How many lives fit into one body?

Orlando is an actor trying to hold his own in a role that is becoming increasingly fragile: that of a man. Between the stage and everyday life, his self-image begins to waver. Expectations, projections, and his own demands start to contradict one another. In a stream of language, images, and music, Orlando—freed from linear time—passes through various lives until his perspective fundamentally shifts. Overnight, Orlando becomes a woman. And suddenly, Orlando’s world becomes a completely different one.
