PHOTOGRAPHY AND SCULPTURE – Lenka Kesting shows photos of religious places and rites. Martin Kesting shows quasi-sacred sculptures made from found

objects, including Berlin bomb debris from the Second World War.

“The actual existence of the depicted deity is irrelevant; the effect is based on the concentration of psychic forces contained in its image. … This continuous ‘storage’ of energy takes place in the image of the god through the worship it receives, through the believer’s focused thought.”

Alexandra David-Néel, “India and Tibet”

Lenka traces this storage process, in the sense of David-Néel, with her photographs of religious sites and rituals. Martin’s quasi-sacred sculptures made from found objects, including Berlin bomb debris from the Second World War, approach the theme in an animistic way.
