A special exhibition of the National Gallery
Since the opening of the Hamburger Bahnhof in 1996, holdings from the Marx Collection have been part of the exhibition program of the Museum der Gegenwart of the Nationalgalerie. Erich Marx began building up a collection in the 1960s, initially focusing on work complexes by Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer, Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, and Andy Warhol.

With the reopening of the Kleihueshalle after extensive renovation in spring 2022, the new collection presentation will once again show central works, including Beuys' main work "Das Kapital Raum 1970-77."
Titled "Balancing Act," it poses the question of the significance that the gain and loss of balance can have on a personal and social level.
