Bakr Khleifi, a native of Palestine who now calls Berlin home, is always on the lookout for new musical partners for his instrument, the Arabic oud.

Following performances with the Iranian kamancheh player Misagh Joolaee in recent years, he will be performing this season at the Pierre Boulez Saal with Derya Türkan, one of the leading virtuosos on the three-stringed Turkish kemençe.
Together, the two artists explore the diversity of maqam-based music from the eastern Mediterranean region, stretching from Armenia to Egypt.
