Ausländerbehörde, uma cachaça, bitte?

The young ensemble, consisting of 10 members from different Brazilian regions and social classes, most of whom are BIPoC* (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) and queer people, premiered the play “Ausländerbehörde, uma cachaça, bitte?” in October 2023 under the direction of Uriara Maciel. Using several languages and a mixture of different art forms such as performance, live music, dance and video, the 70-minute piece involved the Brazilian, German and international audience with its special way of turning “a lemon into a delicious caipirinha ”*.



The performance Ausländerbehörde, uma cachaça, bitte? by the Ayôsol Collective explores the different meanings of life as a Brazilian migrant in Berlin: arrival, homesickness, successes, challenges and departure. The action takes place in a fictional Brazilian bar in Berlin, where characters with different struggles meet and interact.


With humor and artistic diversity, the group takes the audience on a journey of reflection on the challenges of migration, from the encounter between a German professor and a German-Brazilian student, to virtual flirtation and possible cultural conflicts, to dissatisfaction with bureaucratic procedures and the many obstacles that make it difficult for some characters to access the German job market.
