Aus Liebe // Vol. 1

A song, a poem, a film quote, a sacred object, a memento of a lover – in their most diverse forms. This sparks a conversation in which they discuss how the guests reflect on love, asking themselves together what love does to them, what they make of it, and what has become of it.

What stories do people tell about it today? What consequences are they willing to accept for its sake, and whom do they deliberately leave behind in the process? If love is to be the goal, Duygu Agal, together with his guests, wants to know what it has brought about so far, why we have stayed, and ultimately: whether we want to stay?

Following YEMINSIZLER // THE VOWLESS, AUS LIEBE is now taking shape. In the previous talk series, Duygu Agal met with guests who approached the question artistically: who becomes lonely, and what does the inner world of this abandonment look like when the few lovers lose their place in a world where everyone else retreats into their own individual happiness? Reluctantly, Duygu Agal now finally dares to tackle the question of what love brings forth.

From all the fascinating conversations and performative sequences with guests such as director and artist Martha Mechow, author and theologian senthuran varatharajah, author and cultural studies scholar Susana AbdulMajid, and art historian Paolina Wandruszka, one thing is clear: love can kill and one can die from it, but we remain because we love. It is one of the oldest ways in which we try to live together and, at the same time, one of the oldest ways in which we hurt one another.
