Father Luitpold Löwenhaupt buys a live goose for the upcoming Christmas celebrations, which is to be turned into a succulent Christmas roast. Until the festivities, it is to be kept in the potato cellar.

The family’s three children name the little goose Gustje and look after her lovingly. Actually, Gustje isn’t having a bad time in the cellar. Only little Peterle disagrees and stubbornly insists that Gustje be allowed to sleep in the children’s bedroom.
Peterle and the goose have already become inseparable when, shortly before Christmas, the father decides to send Gustje to
goose heaven. Gustje squawks, Mum and the children weep, and Dad devises a wicked ruse. After all, he can hardly wait to finally have the roast on his plate.
But who triumphs in the end? The goose, of course – otherwise this wouldn’t be a fun Christmas story!
Thomas Sutter has also written some lovely songs for the performance on the marquee stage. Two actors tell the famous story – sometimes individually, sometimes in unison, sometimes with songs – and play their instruments.
