It has always operated at the frontiers of what is technologically feasible and what is scientifically and philosophically conceivable. To this day, astronomy therefore occupies a special place in our cultural and scientific life.The lecture series “History of Astronomy” examines the questions that humanity has posed to the heavens since the earliest times. It shows what answers have been found over the centuries and what intellectual, scientific, and technical means made these discoveries possible. In doing so, the history of astronomy becomes a history of human curiosity, worldviews, and the quest to understand the cosmos.
