Artificial Intelligence—Real Consequences

AI promises to treat illnesses more effectively, tackle climate change and make our daily lives easier. At the same time, concerns are growing about disinformation, manipulation and a loss of control.

Which tasks do we want to leave to machines in future, and where will humans remain irreplaceable? The question is: “Where do we currently stand on the subject of AI – and how do we want to shape its development in future?”

-> Dr.-Ing. Hubert Zitt studied electrical engineering and works as a lecturer on the Computer Science degree programme at Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences, Zweibrücken Campus. Alongside his ‘regular’ teaching duties, Hubert Zitt has become well-known throughout Germany and beyond for his Star Trek lectures. Together with Gene Roddenberry Jr., the son of the creator of Star Trek, Zitt wrote the foreword to the book *Star Trek in Deutschland* in 2008. In the autumn of 2008, he taught ‘Physics of Star Trek’ as a regular course over an entire semester at a university in San Antonio, Texas. To date, Hubert Zitt has delivered more than 400 talks on Star Trek, Star Wars and other science fiction films, and has appeared on television programmes. In 2012, his agency, 5-Sterne-Redner, honoured him with the ‘Most Extraordinary Speaker of the Year’ award.
